Ambler Softball Team Brings Home Finalist Medals in “Homeruns For Troops” Tournament

Ambler, PA‒ The sun is finally shining and so are the medals around the necks of the 14u softball players from the Ambler-based eXpress Softball club.

In only their second tournament of the young 2021 spring/summer season—"Homeruns for Troops” in Quakertown, PA‒ the squad of thirteen- and fourteen-year-old players powered through the two-day competition. Their success landed them in the Championship.

“I am so proud of these girls,” said head coach Pete Nattichione. “They are gritty, talented, determined and unstoppable.”

Shortstop Morgan Risnychok hit the first homerun of her career during her team’s trophy run. The three-run shot earned her a game ball, on which her coaches wrote the date to commemorate the event.

“As a club, we have a collection of hardware from tournaments,” stated eXpress founder and commissioner, Elise Baker. “But it is really about so much more than the medals and trophies themselves. It is what they represent. They represent hard work in practice, positive attitudes, pride in club and team, setting and achieving goals, and perseverance. My heart is full. These girls embody everything good about female athletes.”

With many more competitions to come in the remaining months of summer, there is much excitement ahead for eXpress Softball, and many more opportunities to make the community proud.
